We had the chance to try out iFLY in Roseville this past weekend. If you've never heard of it, it is an indoor skydiving simulator. This is a fun way way to get the feeling of skydiving in a safe indoor environment. It's actually pretty amazing! You can make reservations online. Kids as young as 3 years old can give it a shot! There is no maximum age limit, so this is something all families can try.

You can see a video on our Facebook page of our experience

You can fill out their waivers either online before you go or once you are there. Once you are there, they have you sit through a quick training video to learn the easy hand symbols. With winds up to 170 mph inside the tunnel, you can't hear each other talk, so the hand symbols are important. There's only 4, and they are easy to learn. After that, it's time to "suit up", and put some ear plugs in (the wind is loud). With the suit and helmet, everyone looked ready to take off. They do have 2 different options with the helmets. The standard one comes with helmet and goggles separate. They also have a full helmet complete with a full face mask. It shields your face from the wind.

The wind tunnel itself is pretty amazing to look at. There is seating inside an enclosed area. One person at a time is called in to take a flight. Since the tunnel is clear, friends and family can sit and watch from the outside. Each of our group went in for two 60 second sessions. The first session got them in the tunnel and used to what it was like, learn the correct body position, and test out the hand signals. The instructor then asked if anyone wanted to "go up high" for the next 60 second session. This is what it's all about! Everyone said it was fun. I'm sure there will be requests to go back!

Our instructor, Brendan,  was amazing. He was great with the kids, and seemed to really love what he was doing. After our group was done with our flights, he got in the tunnel and showed us all the cool things he could do in there. Once you learn the basics, each successive session will become easier, and you'll get better. You can come back and learn more advanced techniques. If you are serious about the sport, you can get a dedicated coach to train you. There are even competitions in body flight!

iFly also hosts birthday parties and corporate events. The even host STEM field trips for schools. This is an all inclusive environment, so those with disabilities are welcome! Pictures are taken while in the tunnel, and the prices to purchase them are reasonable.
