Let Halloween Candy Take You Into Thanksgiving

Countdown to Thanksgiving using Halloween Candy!

November 2, 2019

It's over. The annual haul. Candy. Everywhere.

My child is very moderate in his candy consumption. Me, on the other hand? I have to disguise it so that I can't see it. This year I wanted to get a little more creative, so I came up with this idea to deal with the excess and decorate for Thanksgiving to boot!

Countdown to Thanksgiving

Supplies

  • Candy
  • Paper cups (However many you need to get to Thanksgiving. Make sure that your candy fits inside the cups.)
  • Crepe paper or tissue paper in fall colors
  • Glue
  • Marking pen or number stickers
  • Small pieces of foam for turkey

Instructions

This is super simple. Put a piece of candy in the cup. Cut the tissue paper into a square big enough to cover the cup. Glue around the rim of the cup and adhere the paper. Let dry and carefully write numbers on with a marker or use stickers.

You can make Thanksgiving Day into a turkey by adding a foam face, hat, tail, and wattle using popsicle sticks, crepe paper or foam. "Use what you have to make what you need" is my motto.

I displayed them as a centerpiece on a cake stand.

Each day, "break into" the cup by puncturing the tissue paper and then savor the treat.
