Halloween Meals the Kids Will Like

By Macaroni Kid Roseville-Rocklin-Lincoln and Citrus Heights October 31, 2018

Halloween can be such a crazy night. The kids are so excited about trick or treating, they don't always pay attention to eating anything else. I've ordered the Halloween pizza before (Papa Murphy's Jack-o-lantern pizza), but I have been trying to come up with some other ideas we could make up quick on Halloween, and other days leading up to Halloween, when we are busy running around to Halloween activities all day.

Here are a few ideas:

Green
Mac & Cheese

Spider Sandwich

Mummy
Chicken
Patty

Snake
& Finger
Breadsticks

  • Green Mac & Cheese: What kids doesn't like Mac & Cheese? Add a little green food coloring and you've got a kooky Halloween meal!
  • Spider Sandwich: This one is a PB&J, but any sandwich filling will do. Just cut it in a circle, and add pretzel spider legs. Depending on the filling, the eyes could be olives or maybe even chocolate candy discs (the kind used for melting) for a treat.
  • Mummy Chicken Patty: I used a roll of crescent dough (pizza dough would work, too) and placed the chicken patty on it, and cut it to size, leaving enough to fold over the top. Just make slits in the part to fold over, and "arrange" randomly across the chicken patty. I sliced string cheese into little circles for the eyes and used an edible pen to make the black dot. Be sure to cook the chicken patties about half way through before placing in crescent dough, so it gets cooked thoroughly.
  • Snake and finger bread sticks: I used the extra crescent dough and cut it into slices, then rolled and shaped it. The finder nails are colored with red edible pen. If I'd had a red bell pepper I would have used it. The eyes on the snake are little small candy sprinkles.

Have a Safe & Fun Halloween!
