Tissue Paper Valentine Hearts

By Macaroni Kid Roseville-Rocklin-Lincoln and Citrus Heights February 13, 2019

Grab some tissue paper and let the kids tear it into pieces! Say what? Sounds like a mess, right? Those little pieces of tissue paper can be used for craft projects, and I have a couple right here to show you.

Download the heart template to get started. We have several on a page.

Heart Decorations
For this first project, we sandwiched all the little pieces of tissue paper (pink and red for Valentine's Day) between two pieces of wax paper, then ironed over it (placing a thin towel over the wax paper first). This sealed it together. Then we traced hearts onto it and cut them out. Using black construction paper we cut out hearts that were a little larger than our tissue paper ones and cut out the center so it is a heart border. Using tape on the backside we taped the wax covered tissue paper hearts onto the border. These look great taped to windows because the sun shines through the tissue paper.

Heart Embellishments
Next, we glued tissue paper pieces onto some white paper and cut out heart shapes. These can be used to adorn a variety of things, but we used them on the front of a card. The border design is on the heart template download if you want to copy the card.
