BALLOON BADMINTON

Kids can make and play

By Melissa Hucal July 8, 2020

Finding "physical" activities for your kids can be tough in colder weather. But with just a few supplies from around the house, you can create a safe, indoor version of badminton that will keep your kids moving.

Here's what you'll need:

  • A balloon
  • Cardboard (a cereal box works great!) or paper plates
  • Popsicle sticks or plastic spoons
  • Masking tape

Here's what you'll do:

  1. Blow up your balloon about halfway. Tie and set aside.
  2. If you are using a cereal box (or other cardboard pieces), cut circles about 8 inches in diameter, one for each paddle. Grab a bowl from the kitchen that looks about the right size and trace. If you are using paper plates, you can skip this step.
  3. Tape popsicle sticks or spoons to the back of your cardboard circles or plates. You may need to use two to make your handle long enough.
  4. Have fun hitting your balloon back and forth!

You can keep score or not - just have a blast seeing how long you can keep the balloon in the air!

Editors note: We've made these using paper plates, too!
