In the Kitchen: Pizza Waffles

By Jennifer Hill September 16, 2020

Want a super easy, fun and different idea for lunch or dinner? This is it!

What you need:

  • Pizza dough (I used canned, refrigerated dough, but feel free to use your favorite)
  • Pizza fillings (I used pepperoni and mozzarella cheese)
  • Sauce, for dipping (DO NOT put inside or you’ll end up with a mess!)

What you do:

Turn on your waffle maker. While heating up, roll out your pizza dough. Cut your dough the shape of your waffle iron. My waffle maker is round, so I used a plastic storage container to make circles a little smaller than my waffle maker.

No need to spray oil. Just lay one piece of dough in the maker and top with your toppings. Anything goes, but remember, NO SAUCE … at least not yet.

Top with a second piece of dough and gently close the top of the waffle iron. I didn’t press down hard. After 2 or 3 minutes, if it looks like the “open end” of your pizza isn’t cooking very well, flip it over. This was super easy, thanks to the groves. Then close it again and let it cook another 3 minutes or so, until crisp.

Cut and serve with pizza sauce for dipping.
