Red, White & Blue Sparkle Cookies

By Christel M. Hoydic July 1, 2020

Start an annual tradition when you whip up a batch of these Yummy Red, White, & Blue Sparkle Cookies for July 4th!  They are great for picnics, family treats or midnight snacks and, best of all, they are easy to make with only a few ingredients. Each batch is a treat for the tummy and the eye – crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and the sugars add that perfect sparkle!

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Red, White, and Blue M&M Candies
  • White sanding sugars (You can find these in the cake/candy making aisles of most craft stores)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix together the yellow cake mix, eggs, vegetable shortening, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  3. Add M&M's and stir until well incorporated
  4. Take a tablespoon of the cookie batter and gently roll in the candy sugars, place on baking sheet and repeat until all the batter is used.
  5. Bake 8-10 minutes, watching carefully until the edges just start to brown.
