Birds Eye Review: Veggie Made Fries

By Melissa Basgall, Macaroni Kid Kansas City Kansas - Leavenworth November 20, 2019

I have been compensated to facilitate this review, however, all opinions are my own.

How did I live this long not knowing about Birds Eye Veggie Made™ Broccoli and Cauliflower Fries? Fresh, nutritious vegetables have always been a top priority for me when meal prepping and planning, but I had no idea how much easier I could make it on myself. I have a 3-year-old at home, so finding new ways to sneak in veggies is a must, and it doesn’t get better than this.

Birds Eye has four varieties of Veggie Made Fries. Birds Eye Veggie Made™ Broccoli Fries, Birds Eye Veggie Made™ Cauliflower Fries (the two I have made for my family) and Birds Eye Veggie Made™ Broccoli & Cheese Flavored Fries and Birds Eye Veggie Made™ Cauliflower & Ranch Fries (the two I’ll be trying next).

The variety I’ll talk about today is the Birds Eye Veggie Made™ Cauliflower Fries, because they are my family’s favorite. They are made with cauliflower and potato and are 140 calories per serving. The serving size is 8 fries, which is also considered a full serving of vegetables. I love that we can indulge in one of our favorite comfort foods in a way that helps me sneak in the vegetables. Making them could not be easier, since they come premade and frozen, so all you have to do is pop them in the oven to bake and crisp them up. In less than 15 minutes you will have a veggie side that your whole family will love. Birds Eye Veggie Made Fries are made with no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, so you can be confident in the quality of food you’re putting on the table.

I’ve found that you can actually make these fries the star of your meal. I’ve researched a ton of regular frozen fry recipes and then substituted with these fries from Birds Eye. We have made pulled pork covered fries, cheesy nacho chili fries, and even a few tater tot casseroles, substituting traditional tater tots with Birds Eye Veggie Made™ Cauliflower Fries. It’s a versatile product and a new staple in our household.

I should also mention that I have really enjoyed these for snacks. When I’m already baking a batch for dinner, I have been tossing another bag on the oven sheet. Once cooked, I’ve sealed up the extras in a container and stored it in the refrigerator. Then, over the next few days, I can reheat a half serving (4 fries) as a quick snack that gives me that comfort food fix I’m craving.

I found my Birds Eye Veggie Made™ Broccoli Fries and Birds Eye Veggie Made™ Cauliflower Fries at my local Walmart store in the frozen vegetable section, and I’ll most certainly be adding them to my shopping list each week moving forward. They really are a great addition to my weeknight meal planning, and I am so glad I was introduced to these awesome Birds Eye Vegetable products.
