I was provided a complimentary kit from The Outsideologist Project and compensation for this article, but all opinions are my own.
We are so excited the summer weather is here! This past year has been a challenge (I'm sure I don't have to tell you that), so we are so happy to get out of the house and have some fun. Did you know that according to a study by Claritin®, 72% of parents surveyed say their family doesn't get outside enough? And once they are outside, many say their kids are bored. Sounds to me like they might need some inspiration!
Here are a dozen outdoor ideas that are easy to do: Take a walk around the neighborhood Go to a local park Head to Folsom Lake Take a hike on one of the many trails around here Go camping or have a backyard camp out Do an outside scavenger hunt Plant a garden together Fly a kite Get a book on birds and birdwatch Do one of those messy science experiments outside Paint rocks and then “plant” them around for others to find See how many different leaves you can find (then use them in a craft project) |
Studies show that being outside helps our overall well-being. That includes physical, mental, and emotional health. The makers of Claritin® have started The Outsideologist Project with a goal of getting 1.2 million more kids enjoying an extra hour outside each week! They sent us this Outsideologist Kit and we are giving away another one in a Giveaway for our readers. How cool is that?

We love getting outside. We spend a lot of time at parks and the lake (we're so lucky to live so close to Folsom Lake). We also love to garden. This year we built a completely new garden area so we could expand on all the yummy vegetables we grew last year. This kit will come in handy! The kids love the fresh tomatoes and cucumbers especially. I make zucchini bread in bulk and freeze it. It makes a great quick breakfast any time (even straight from the freezer).
