ROCK CITY (ages 3-4 | 45 min/wk): This small group class (max 6 students) gives kids the chance to explore instruments at an early age. Our preschool music classes use the power of storytelling to teach musical concepts to kids 3-5 years old. At the same time, students get to explore instruments like the chimes and recorder! In Rock City, kids can develop important skills for school, including early math and language skills, as well as preparing students for future music lessons, including our Kids-n-Keys class for ages 5-7.

KIDS-N-KEYS (ages 5-7 | 45 min/wk): This small group class (max 6 students) is a perfect introduction to piano lessons for kids! Students build a strong foundation for piano and keyboard. Your child will learn valuable skills, like basic finger placement and playing techniques, as well as early musical theory. Our small class sizes make piano lessons for kids more fun, giving your child the chance to learn with peers. At the same time, each student gets plenty of one-on-one attention from our instructors. After graduating from Kids n Keys, students can graduate to private piano lessons. This way, your child will have a solid foundation in place by the time they start one-on-one lessons.

PRIVATE LESSONS (ages 7+ | 30-60 min/wk): Our private lessons give students the chance to learn one-on-one with our music teachers. These weekly lessons are perfect for students who benefit from one-on-one attention. Private music lessons pair students with some of the industry’s most talented instructors for piano, guitar, bass, ukelele, drums and more. Our curriculum allows students to build their skills step-by-step, moving from beginner to intermediate to advanced lessons. We adjust this curriculum for each student’s abilities, learning styles, and musical interests.

BAND/VOCAL GROUPS (ages 8+ | 60 min/wk): We encourage our students to combine the band/vocal group program with their private lessons. Students are placed in a band or vocal with peers of a similar age and skill level. When signing up, two or more students can request to be part of the same band, giving friends the chance to play together. We also allow existing bands to sign up as a group and get coaching from our talented teachers. In this program, students attend weekly jam sessions and practice songs together. Each group is encouraged to choose which songs and genres they want to play. We also encourage our groups to write their own songs and perform original music, and all of our bands and vocal groups get the chance to perform at a variety of Bach to Rock and community events.

BEAT MAKING (ages 8+ | 30-60 min/wk): The perfect starting point for new DJs and aspiring music producers. These beginner DJ lessons teach students how to produce songs and make their own music — even if they’ve never played an instrument or used turntables before! Students will need a computer (Mac or PC) with Google Chrome installed to access BandLab for Education. Classes are offered in-person or online.  Our beginner DJ lessons teach up-and-coming artists how to craft their own beats, mixes, and remixes. Today’s DJs rely on music production software to unleash their creativity and find their voice as artists.

MUSIC PRODUCTION (ages 8+ | 30-60 min/wk): Our music production workshops give students an up-close look at how to produce hit music. Discover how to record tracks, layer in instruments, and mold your recording in song sections like Verse and Chorus. This workshop covers the basics of making music in BandLab, a free software program that’s accessible online. Students will learn how to access and harness the tools that BandLab offers, including a wide range of recording and mixing features. We will also briefly compare BandLab to GarageBand, and let students decide which program they think is easier to use. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have everything you need to create songs.
