Snow Play for Family Fun

Bundle up, pack up the kids, and head up the mountain for some SNOW FUN!


Adventure Mountain Tahoe: Located at the top of Echo Summit on Highway 50, just 10 minutes west of South Lake Tahoe, CA via Hwy 50. $40 per vehicle (up to 4 people, with $5 each additional person) to use the sledding resort.
Weekdays 10am-3pm. Weekends & holidays 9AM-3:30pm http://adventuremountaintahoe.com/


Bear Valley Cross Country: Hwy. 4, 45 miles northeast of Angels Camp. Sledding and tubing hills, with a separate area for ages 3 and up. Cost: $15-25 for sledding; $20-35 for tubing; $5-10 non-sledders/tubers. (includes the use of sled or tube). 2-hour sessions.

Boreal: I-80 at Castle Peak Exit on Donner Summit. Playland tubing area with tubing lanes and mini carpet. Boreal/ Woodward is open daily Mon-Fri 12pm-8pm & Sat-Sun 10am-8pm.

Carson Pass Snow Play: Snow play and cross country skiing. Located on the south side of Highway 88 at Carson Pass 60 miles east of Jackson in Alpine County. http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=23056


Diamond Peak: Incline Village, Nev., off Hwy. 28. The resort has Diamond Peak Child Ski Center. Kids 6 under ski free. Learning area with powerline lift for ages 3–6.

Dodge Ridge Ski Resort: Located in Pinecrest at 1 Dodge Ridge Rd. They are open for the season. https://www.dodgeridge.com/


Donner Summit Snow Play: Snow play and cross country skiing. Located on the south side of I-80 at the Castle Peak exit beyond Boreal Inn http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=23055


Granlibakken: South of Tahoe City. Groomed sled hill. Cost: $30-45 including sled/saucer. Sledding is open daily throughout the season. Kids under 3 sled for free. If you have a lift ticket (adult $35-40; Child 13 & under $25-$30), it includes sledding. Tahoe Treetop Adventure is also on the property and runs year-round.

Heavenly Ski Resort: Ski Heavenly! Located at 375 Quaking Aspen Ln in Stateline Nevada. Open for the season.  https://www.skiheavenly.com/


Kirkwood: Located at 1377 Kirkwood Meadows Dr in Kirkwood, CA, off of Hwy 88. Great skiing with the season opening this year in December. https://www.kirkwood.com/


Leland High Sierra Snow Play: Near Dodge Ridge, East of Strawberry on Highway 108. Largest dedicated Snow Tubing and Snow Play park on the West Coast. Cost: $25–$47 (sleds/saucers included in ticket price). Must be 44" tall.

Northstar California: North Shore Tahoe, Truckee. They have ice skating and snowshoeing.

Nyack Snow Park: Interstate 80, exit 156 near Donner Summit. Pay to park and play. http://nyackshell.com/snow-park/


Sierra-at-Tahoe: South Lake Tahoe off U.S. 50. Groomed snow play area, Blizzard Mountain, with a lift near the main lodge for 2 tubing lanes. Children under 42" free with paid adult. Snow play all day.

Soda Springs Mountain Resort: East of I-80 at Soda Springs Exit. In Tube Town, a groomed tubing area, they have a 400-foot surface lift, serving 20 long flumes with twists and banked turns. A separate, slower-paced zone, called Planet Kids, is suitable for small children.

Palisades Tahoe (formally Squaw Valley): 9 miles northwest of Tahoe City, off Hwy. 89. Snow tubing area located at the base of the mountain. Includes lift access and tube. Must be 40" tall. They also have mini-snowmobiles.

Olympic Valley Park: Located at 101 Squaw Valley Rd in Olympic Valley CA, the park is open during the winter for snow play and snowshoeing. They do have public restrooms. It's a free option to build snowmen and play in the snow. placer.ca.gov/6024/Olympic-Valley-Park


Tahoe City Winter Sports Park: Sledding, cross country skiing, ice skating, and snowshoeing trails. Advanced reservations are required. https://www.tcpud.org/winter


Tahoe Donner: Northwoods Blvd., 1/2 mile off I-80 at Donner Pass Road Exit. Groomed sledding hill, 2 monitored tubing lanes (when weather permits), 6 unmonitored sledding lanes. Cost includes the use of a plastic sled.
